What does the "Icacycle" stand for?

As controversial as the faith for which it stands, the Ichthus or "Christian Fish" has a disputed origin and meaning. In order to answer the question "what does the Icacycle stand for" lets first establish the history of the Ichthus that is excepted by the creator of the Icacycle.

Ichthus is the Greek word for "fish", spelled IXOYE. Each of the letters stands for a word, " Jesus, Christ, Son, God, Savior." or "Jesus Christ the Son of God and Savior". In Greek it would be, "Iesous Christos, Theou Uios, Soter".

As early as the first century A.D. the symbol appeared in Alexandria, Egypt. It was used to identify a well known deity; Jesus Christ. At the time Alexandria was a heavily used seaport with traffic from all over the world including Greece and the rest of Europe. It is assumed that the symbol traveled from Egypt to Europe and while in Greece was given its name; Ichthus.

Under the Ichthus name, the symbol appeared in Rome and was used by Christians during the Christian persecution by Emperor Nero, which started around 54 A.D. Nero, hated Christians and so placed Roman soldiers through out the empire to keep them from worshiping their God. To avoid capture Christians would use the Ichthus as a secretive symbol to show their loyalty to Christ. By drawing the Ichthus in the dirt, sand or mud Christians would let other Christians know their faith.

Still today it is used by Christians who proudly display the symbol of their ancestors to show loyalty to Jesus Christ the Son of God and Savior. So it is from early Egypt to modern day America, the Ichthus has a great history, filled with honor and faith.

With this history in mind you can see that "Icacycle" (I-see-a-cycle) is simply combining Ichthus and Motorcycle to form a new word and a new symbol, of the same nature, but for modern day outlaws.

History is History but Who are We?

Our mission then, as a company, is to protect and promote unity among Christian Motorcycle enthusiasts through the Icacycle symbol. Whether independent riders or clubbers we believe that it is every Christian’s duty to first show love and unity to our brothers and sisters and second to discern doctrine and so associate with a certain denomination or club. The Ichthus or Christian Fish has always been a symbol of unity and so we believe that the Icacycle is an appropriate step in Christian History and we encourage you to be apart of it.

Our Guarantee to you is simple but of utmost importance. We guarantee that the Icacycle will never be associated with a specific club or doctrine, it will never become apart of an agenda, a religion, or a sect. As a company this is were our funding goes; to insure that the Icacycle continues to be a free agent among Christian Riders until it is a commonly understood part of Americana. This is Christian history in the writing and we want you to help author it.

Go with God and Enjoy the Ride,
Timothy ‘Venice’ Veldman
